Congressman Chris Smith

Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) is the author of numerous landmark federal laws, including the nation's first law that deals specifically with human trafficking. This historic law the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act (P.L. 106-386) and the subsequent reauthorizations (also authored by Smith) form the crux of the federal government's efforts to prosecute sex traffickers and to help trafficking victims rebuild their lives.
